During a break on the set of “Family Feud,” Steve Harvey stunned his audience with an intimate revelation—his reunion with his wife, Marjorie Harvey, happened just one day after his divorce was finalized!
In a viral Facebook Reel, the 67-year-old comedian detailed the fateful 2005 moment, explaining that he was deep in a high-stakes gambling session when his bodyguard interrupted him with an urgent call. Initially brushing it off, Harvey was floored when he heard the voice on the other end—it was Marjorie, the woman he hadn’t spoken to in nearly two decades.
“I said, ‘Hello.’ She said, ‘Boy, what you want?’” Harvey recalled. “And I knew right away—it was her.”
As the two exchanged playful banter, Harvey asked about her “punk-a— husband” and was shocked to learn she had been divorced for four years. Wasting no time, he decided he wanted her back.
“I got a jet, flew to Memphis the next day, and asked her to have lunch with me,” he said.
Marjorie, however, set the record straight immediately. “I don’t date married men,” she told him. That’s when Harvey revealed his stunning truth: “I just got divorced yesterday.”
Although his split had been finalized before Thanksgiving, his celebrity status kept it under wraps. Marjorie, cautious but intrigued, took about a month to verify his claim. When they finally met at the Adams Mark Hotel in Memphis, Harvey knew he wouldn’t let her slip away again.
“I let you get away one time. You ain’t going away this time,” he thought as she walked toward him.
However, their reunion came at a challenging time for Harvey. “When I got that divorce, I had $1,700,” he admitted, revealing how financially devastating his split from his second wife, Mary Shackelford, had been. With his TV show “Steve Harvey’s Big Time” and his Los Angeles radio gig both ending, his finances were in shambles. He was surviving on “Kings of Comedy” residuals, but it wasn’t enough in his eyes to start over.
But Marjorie wasn’t fazed by his struggles. Instead, she stood by his side, helping him rebuild. “That girl got in that foxhole with me and built,” he said. “The man I am today is because of her.”
Fans were captivated by the story, though some were skeptical. One person questioned, “How can he afford private jets with just $1,700 in the bank?” Another accused him of stretching the truth: “Only $1,700, Steve… just gone lie to us like that.”
Still, many focused on the love story itself. “Love always finds its way,” one commenter wrote, while another joked, “Looking for my Marjorie now, ’cause mine jacked me up big time.”
Despite their picture-perfect romance, Harvey and Marjorie faced challenges—especially in blending their families. Harvey recalled in a 2021 interview with Cam Newton how one of Marjorie’s children once told him, “You ain’t my daddy.”
“Men who take on another man’s responsibility, that should be a day for them,” Harvey quipped. “Guys like me and you who step up and play fathers when others walk away, that’s a different kind of man.”
The couple shares a blended family of seven children: Harvey’s twins Brandi and Karli (43), Broderick Jr. (34), and Wynton (27), as well as Marjorie’s children, whom Steve adopted—Morgan (38), Jason (34), and Lori (28).
In 2024, fans speculated about a possible family rift when Harvey’s twin daughters, Brandi and Karli, were noticeably absent from photos of a lavish family vacation in Italy.
Beyond family dynamics, Steve and Marjorie have endured years of public scrutiny, with ongoing rumors about their marriage—including accusations of infidelity, which Harvey has adamantly denied.
Yet, despite the noise, Harvey insists that reconnecting with Marjorie was the moment that changed everything. Nearly 20 years later, their love story stands as proof that fate, timing, and second chances can rewrite a person’s destiny.
