Houthi rebels have escalated tensions with the U.S. by releasing a chilling animated video showcasing American flag-draped coffins floating around burning warships—just hours after President Trump vowed to “rain hell down” on the group.
The provocative footage begins with a single coffin marked with the U.S. flag before panning out to reveal multiple caskets surrounding what appear to be destroyed Navy vessels, their hulls engulfed in flames. The imagery has sparked outrage, with many interpreting it as a direct warning of increased attacks.
Hussain Abdul-Hussain, a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, slammed the video as pure propaganda. “These terrorists really cannot tell the difference between delusions and reality,” he wrote on X.
The release of the video comes after the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching a massive assault on the USS Harry Truman and other American warships in the Red Sea. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea boasted that the attack involved 18 ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones, targeting U.S. naval forces in a coordinated strike.
However, American officials have dismissed the claims, stating that there is no evidence of an attack on the Truman. But that hasn’t stopped Trump supporters from ridiculing the Houthis, with one calling them “cowardly cockroaches” who hide behind propaganda rather than taking real action.
The tensions come amid a relentless wave of Houthi aggression, with over 100 attacks on commercial and military vessels since November 2023. The group insists their campaign is in solidarity with Palestinians amid Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza.
Just hours before the video’s release, Trump ordered the first major airstrikes of his new administration against the rebels, reportedly killing at least 31 fighters and injuring over 100 others. In response, the Houthis claimed the attack killed civilians, including children, and accused the U.S. and the UK of war crimes.
Trump, however, remains unapologetic. His message to the rebels was clear: “YOUR TIME IS UP… HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE.”
The Pentagon has confirmed that the U.S. military operation in Yemen is only just beginning. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that the U.S. will not tolerate attacks on its warships, and Trump has given the green light for a far more aggressive approach than his predecessor.
As the world watches this conflict escalate, one thing is clear—Trump isn’t bluffing, and the Houthis just upped the stakes.
