Former President Donald Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, expressed confidence on Tuesday that her client would be shielded from potential incarceration, citing his Secret Service protection. Habba’s remarks came in response to concerns raised about Trump’s legal challenges, including partial gag orders imposed in his New York business fraud case and D.C. election interference case.
During an exclusive interview with conservative network Newsmax, host Carl Higbie probed Habba about the possibility of Trump facing jail time, given the legal hurdles he currently faces. Higbie questioned, “How is this — Could they even possibly throw him in jail? What would that look like?” To this, Habba emphatically replied, “He’s protected by Secret Service, period. So I always tell people when they’re panicked, listen, he’s protected by Secret Service, number one. Number two, he did nothing wrong.”
Habba, a staunch supporter of Trump and a prominent lawyer in the MAGA movement, further defended the former president, addressing concerns about the legal complexities surrounding his cases. “So, when people go to jail because they’ve done something wrong. Do we have crooked situations in and out of court?” Habba asked rhetorically. “Absolutely. Could they try? Probably? But it won’t work because there is still [a] trial process. There [are] still facts and unfortunately, they’re not going to win on the facts.”
Highlighting the pivotal role of the Secret Service, Habba emphasized, “Secret Service will always protect President Trump. That’s the truth. They have to. Wherever he is.” She dismissed the ongoing legal challenges against Trump as politically motivated, stating, “This is all political. It’s really not. There’s no criminal acts that he’s done. There’s no civil wrongs that he’s done unless making money for banks is a civil wrong. I mean that — that’s — it’s Trump derangement syndrome at its best.”
In a defiant tone, Habba conveyed her lack of concern for her client’s legal situation. “I’m not worried about him. He’s not worried, and the American public shouldn’t be worried,” she asserted confidently, echoing Trump’s own sentiments regarding the ongoing investigations and legal proceedings.
As the legal battles surrounding the former president continue to unfold, Habba’s staunch defense and trust in the Secret Service’s protection raise questions about the potential outcomes of Trump’s legal challenges. Amidst the debates and speculations, the nation watches closely, waiting for the resolution of these high-stakes legal cases that have captured the attention of millions across the country.
