Chloe Pearson, 18, from Castleford, West Yorkshire, lost her life following the crash, while her sister Abigale, who suffered injuries including a fractured spine and a brain bruise, is still undergoing recovery in the hospital. In an emotional statement from her hospital bed, Abigale expressed the profound pain she is enduring, stating that her “heart is in bits.”

On social media, Abigale shared, “Never in a million years did I think I would ever be writing this, but my heart is in bits. Rest in peace, you beautiful soul. I am absolutely devastated and don’t even have the words to describe how much I’m going to miss you. Sweet dreams, angel. I love you more than you’ll ever know, until we meet again.”

Leicestershire police reported that the collision occurred at 8:30 pm on Friday on the A426 Rugby Road. Chloe and Abigale were passengers in the Citroen, along with three others, while a man and woman in their 60s were in the Mercedes. The Mercedes driver and passenger sustained life-changing injuries, and the Citroen driver is in critical condition.

Abigale, disclosing the extent of her injuries, shared, “It was the worst experience I’ve ever been through in my life. Finding out I have a bruise on my brain, two fractures in my neck, a fractured spine, and fractured ribs wasn’t easy at all. But knowing my twin sister never made it absolutely destroys me.”

Detective Sergeant Ed Des-Chanelle urged witnesses with information or dash cam footage to come forward. He stated, “Sadly we are now investigating this incident as a fatal collision, and six other people still remain in the hospital with serious injuries. We are continuing to carry out inquiries to establish how the collision occurred.”
