Tyra Banks, at the age of 50, recently had her first alcoholic beverage, but the experience left her less than impressed.
In an interview with People, Banks shared her thoughts on trying alcohol for the first time on her milestone birthday, saying, “It wasn’t worth it. I was like, ‘This is nasty!'” Despite the less-than-stellar experience, Banks had eagerly anticipated turning 50, viewing it as a rite of passage to embrace her true self.
Celebrating her birthday in Australia with her family, including her boyfriend Louis Bélanger-Martin and her 8-year-old son York Banks Asla, Banks described the experience as magical. She recounted being surprised by her mom and best friend and enjoying a memorable meal in the midst of a picturesque setting.
Embracing her age, Banks reflected on the perks that come with being 50, including incidents where she wasn’t asked for ID, jokingly attributing it to her age. She shared how her perception of being 50 had evolved from expectations of “great granny” status to feeling confident and secure in herself.
Banks emphasized that her life now is vastly different from what she had imagined, expressing joy and self-assurance. She highlighted raising her son as her greatest accomplishment, cherishing the time spent with him, particularly enjoying activities like coloring together.
While Banks’ first experience with alcohol may not have been what she expected, her positive outlook on life and appreciation for the moments spent with loved ones shine through, marking her 50th year as a time of celebration and self-discovery.
