Former President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on Judge Juan Merchan, ahead of the upcoming contempt hearing related to his actions on Truth Social.

According to a report by Raw Story on Saturday, April 20, 2024, Trump’s outburst comes amid mounting legal troubles, including a criminal trial concerning allegations of hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The trial, set to begin Monday, follows the swearing-in of a jury on Friday. Facing 34 felony counts and the prospect of a four-year prison sentence if convicted, Trump’s frustration appears to be boiling over as he intensifies his criticisms of the judicial process and Judge Merchan.

In a tweet, Trump denounced the trial as a “planned and coordinated witch hunt” orchestrated by Democrats. He accused the judge of being “possibly the most conflicted judge in judicial history” and demanded his immediate removal from the case. Despite mounting pressure, Trump adamantly declared his innocence, stating, “I DID NOTHING WRONG!”

Legal experts had predicted Trump’s escalating stress levels due to his trial and advanced age, with former prosecutor Charles Coleman Jr. warning on MSNBC that Trump was likely to “pop” under the pressure.

Coleman suggested that Trump’s discomfort with narratives beyond his control, coupled with the stress of the trial, could lead to a significant outburst, potentially violating the gag order imposed on him.

Trump’s frustration is palpable, as evidenced by his absence from the campaign trail and his dwindling control over the narrative surrounding his legal battles.

Politico’s Natalie Allison observed that Trump’s demeanor outside the Manhattan courthouse reflects a sense of powerlessness, contradicting his longstanding image as a master strategist.

As the contempt hearing looms and the criminal trial approaches, Trump finds himself increasingly besieged by legal challenges and public scrutiny.

Whether his barrage of attacks on Judge Merchan will yield any legal reprieve remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: the former president’s tumultuous legal saga shows no signs of abating.
