President Donald Trump has made a bold statement by hanging a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office—one of the most iconic symbols of American freedom now taking center stage in the White House.
Trump shared images of the document on social media with a simple caption: “The Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office.” The photos show him pulling back heavy dark blue curtains to reveal the historic text, now prominently displayed near his desk.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the document was delivered to the White House at Trump’s request by the National Archives, where the original—now extremely faded—is kept under high security. However, the White House has not disclosed which version of the Declaration is on display.
This latest addition is just one of several new decor changes under Trump’s leadership. According to reports, he has also installed a painting of Andrew Jackson, a portrait of George Washington above the fireplace, and a bust of Winston Churchill—along with his signature touch: a Diet Coke button at his desk.
While some see the move as a powerful patriotic gesture, others are questioning the deeper significance behind this historic display—especially as the administration continues to clash with the press and push for its own version of history.
